long post.

As most of you know, I’m not a huge fan of the commercially big shoe companies. Fashion has definitely dominated function in most cases.

When we think about fitness and health, a lot of times the two things that are helping us understand where we are in space (our feet) are in coffins not allowing us to get that sensation.

There are somewhere around 50 muscles in the feet. How are we translating that to movement, if we take their function away?

I’m not asking you to go barefoot. I don’t. But what I am asking you to do is maybe question your shoes of choice and ask yourself why you like them? Is it because they are EASY and LAZY=comfortable? Or is it because they actually helping your body function optimally?

With that being said, one could argue that your body functioning optimally isn’t “you being able to run” if without cushioned shoes you couldn’t. Those are essentially then hiding your dysfunction, not fixing it.
