I feel like we need to recognize some of the people that make TCPT… TCPT. So, from time to time, I’m going to feature someone that comes to the gym, and let you know a little bit about their story. To kick things off, I am going to introduce you to a wonderful, fit and healthy mom who, like me, has a love for Harry Potter. Ladies and gentlemen….

Tell us a little about you…what do you like to do, what is your passion, do you have children, Ect…

I am a stay at home mom of four children. My first child had open heart surgery at birth so keeping them healthy and active is always on my mind. I love to take family trips to Utah and California where we can finally enjoy just “family”.

How long have you been a TCPT member?

Since Sept. 2013

How did you get started at TCPT?

I started coming to TCPT when Tony had opened up a Wednesday and Friday class for a few Mom’s who were looking to get back in shape! Well, that’s all it took! I loved how I got a full body workout along with cardio done in one hour. I didn’t have much time in my schedule so this did the trick. I fell in love quickly with how I felt after every workout and couldn’t wait to go back for more.

How do you stay committed to a healthy lifestyle?

I feel that “practice what you preach” is what I want my kids to see. My children are 5 to 12 years old and I am always telling them how to eat. They help keep me in check and will often say, “I’m telling Tony!” but really I want them to see me making the right choices. I already feel my age (43) somedays and don’t like it. I have a slight competitive side to me and love challenging my kids in any game/sport they play. I just want to have fun and not hurt!

What do you like best about training at TCPT?

Some of the things that I love about TCPT is nothing is ever the same. I can go to the same class every week and there will always be something different to work on. The people here WANT to be here. I have made some amazing friends along the way. They all push me into being a stronger, better person and reach goals that I never thought I could. ( FitRanx Level 7!! ) I also love the small class size, the smiles, the jokes and my personal training sessions the best.

What is your favorite exercise? Why?

I would say the push-up. I like this exercise because it works more than one muscle group at a time. I also feel like I am starting to finally “get it” and make it “look pretty”. Plus this is a fun exercise to challenge my boys at!

What is your least favorite exercise? Why?

THE PULL UP! This exercise just makes me mad! It is the one exercise that you can’t say “well I can only do….” You can’t do ANY unless you practice! When it came time to test for Level 7, I needed to do six unassisted pull-ups. Every time I had to do these in personal training my palms would sweat and in my head I was dreading them so how was I going to do six! So I bought a pull-up bar! I still don’t like them but I am proud to say that “I can” do pull-ups now.

What is the most important thing that you have learned at TCPT?

The most important thing I have learned is being healthy and active is not hard. You never will hear me complain about having to go to the gym. I LOVE that “me” time and plan my week around the classes. I also hear Tony in my head every day when deciding what to eat…….”just eat a protein and vegetable”. Simple, right!

What can you tell others looking to make a lifestyle change?

The most important thing is find a place that makes you feel good about yourself. I never dreamed I

would be in the kind of shape I am today. I am in better shape now than when I was in high school, training twice a day as a competitive ice skater. I of course still have my ups and downs but there is always someone at TCPT right there to help me get back on track. My lifestyle change has made me a better wife, mother, friend and person. Thank you TCPT!
